Baby Mason in Daddy's hands - Newborn Portrait by Adrienne Zwart PhotographyBaby Mason was 7 days new when his family came for their newborn portrait session.  His parents had opted to wait and learn their baby’s gender until the day of his birth, so planning this session was a fun challenge.  We had ideas ready for either a girl or a boy baby.

Mason’s middle name is in honor of his Grandpa and Great-Grandpa whose favorite hobby was fishing. His mom told me that if they were having a boy, she would love to incorporate fishing into the baby’s newborn session, somehow.  When I got the “It’s a boy!” message, I was excited to carry out this idea for her.

I sewed the little fishing hat and fish by hand with material I have been hoarding saving. We are fortunate to have lots of old trees out back, and there always seems to be plenty of sticks laying around out there.  Add a little jute twine and I had an instant fishing pole!  Isn’t he cute?!

We took advantage of feeding time to focus on Claire and her pretty dress.  It had the best skirt for twirling!
