Emily, a senior at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School,is the niece of my dear friend, and I was so honored that they drove all the way to Uniontown from Steubenville for Emily’s senior portrait session! Her aunt and mom decided to make it a day to remember beginning with hair and make-up at Connyx Salon & Spa.
After getting her hair and makeup beautifully styled, Emily changed into her first outfit–her homecoming gown. She was so excited about this dress!
Then we were off to a local park for the outdoor senior pictures. We had a gorgeous morning for it, and Emily looked fabulous.
Emily is a Special Olympian Gold Medalist, and I love the story that her aunt Marla Jeane shared: After winning gold and silver medals in previous years, Emily decided that this year, she wanted to try for a bronze so she could have a complete set. 🙂
Having her senior pictures done was a very stimulating experience for a girl with special needs, but she handled it amazingly well and we got some fantastic portraits. Emily’s reward? Lunch and ice cream at Friendly’s. (Yum!)
And can I just say that hearing Emily laugh and talk about that day when she viewed her portraits at the ordering session was perhaps the single most rewarding moment of my photography career thus far?
God bless you, Emily! I hope you have an amazing senior year!
